The Sri Pada (Adamโs Peak) pilgrimage season for 2025/26 officially began today on Unduwap Full Moon Poya Day.
As tradition continues, the sacred relics, deity image, and royal regalia were ceremonially taken from the Sripada Rajamaha Vihara in Galpottawala to Sri Padasthanaya in four processions.
These processions travelled through the following routes:

Ratnapura โ Awissawella โ Hatton โ Nallathanniya

Ratnapura โ Palabathgala

Kuruvita โ Erathna

Balangoda โ Bagawanthalawa
๐ Facilities for Pilgrims
Nuwara Eliya District Secretary Nandana Galaboda stated that arrangements are in place to support pilgrims throughout the season.
State institutions and several private volunteer organisations are assisting with:

Facilities and services along the routes

Safety and crowd management

Pilgrim support areas
All arrangements are being carried out under the guidance of Ven. Bengamuwe Dhammadinna Thera, Chief Incumbent of Sri Padasthanaya.
๐ซ Important Notice on Prohibited Items
Police have announced that the following items are strictly prohibited on the Nallathanniya route up to the Udamaluwa (upper compound):

Plastic water bottles

Liquor
-
Any form of intoxicants
A special security plan is also in place for pilgrims using the HattonโNallathanniya route.
